BLAZERS HS XC INVITATIONAL: of 29 teams
The Governor Thomas Johnson Boys XC team competed in the Hood College Invitational held at Utica Park in Frederick on Saturday. The Patriots lined up against 28 other schools from Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania on an unseasonable hot and humid day for mid-September. The boys were led for the third time this year by Jr. Daveen Bavari. Fresh off a personal record and 2nd place finish on Tuesday at home, Bavari took another 28 seconds off his personal best to finish in 28th place out of 194 Varsity runners with a time of 17:23. The Patriots had a much closer 2-5 gap on this day which helped their overall team score and place. Following Bavari was Sr. Isaiah Myers who broke the 18:00 barrier for the first time with a 17:56 clocking. Myers was then followed by Sr. Josh Goodrich in a personal best time of 18:27. JP Carmona came through moments later in his personal best time of 18:34. The Patriots top five was rounded out by Sr. David Charlebois' sub 19:00 performance of 18:51. The Patriots put together a score of 358 which put them in 15th place out of 29 Varsity schools.
The Patriots have a 10 day break until they take the course again on Wednesday, September 27th at the Mountain Run at Woodsboro Park.
