Leading the way once again was Senior Abby Pinto. Pinto, who was coming off a wonderful showing at the 3A West meet, picked up where she left off by playing a part in all of the team's points. Pinto ran the leadoff leg of a very fast 4x800m Relay in a season's best 2:29.4 to put the team in the top 5 at the first exchange. Sophomore Sara Hohn ran an excellent 2nd leg, maintining the team's top 5 position with a season's best 2:31.4. Freshman Elaina Kluttz then took the baton and ran an amazing leg of 2:33.4, which was also a season's best. Sophomore Megan Wilson ran a gutsy anchor leg against some of the best half-milers in the State and came home in 2:40.7. The quartet's overall time of 10:14.96 was a GTJ Top-3 All-Time mark and earned them a 7th place finish and 2 team points.
Doubling back later in the meet, Pinto looked to continue her success in the 3200m run. The 3A West Region Champion lined up for the 3200m at the State Championships for the fourth time in her career. Pinto put herself in the top 6 of the race by going out in a very fast 5:51 for her first mile, putting her on track for a sub-12 minute clocking. Pinto ran strong and came home with a 12:11 season's best and a 7th place finish which earned 2 team points.
